Analog photographic & moving-image research
Vietnam & Japan series — 2025

An ongoing research into how places, memories and moments are perceived once reality is no longer approached as a stable condition.

Analog photographs, shot on compact and disposable cameras, partly on expired film, are transformed with data trained exclusively on this closed analog corpus.

What emerges is not a surreal transformation, but a quieter distortion. The image remains recognizable, yet something feels misaligned.

Data Archives

22 series — 141 frames
Custom models, personal archives

Photographs and footage, shot on film and digital, become the soil from which new matter slowly surfaces. Reworked through custom models running locally, each frame is redrawn from within, until light, grain and skin begin to drift into textures that never existed, yet could only have come from something once real.

The models learn from nothing but personal archives: fragments of places, faces and hours that were actually lived. No borrowed styles, no foreign memory. What emerges is not an imitation of reality, but its residue, a quiet afterimage.

Tests surface irregularly on Instagram. Selected works are regularly exhibited in Germany, Austria, France and Japan.

About

_Nino Lou Le Chenadec

Director & cinematographer
Paris — working internationally

After four years in journalism and media, he turned to directing and cinematography in 2013. Based in Paris and working internationally, he moves between brand films, music videos, fiction and documentary.

Shaped by European, American and Asian cinema, his gaze shifts between documentary realism and a more contemplative approach, at times drifting into the surreal. He looks for what endures in an image, close to the real or just beside it.

In January 2025, he co-founded the visual creation studio Très bien d’accord. He is also creative director and director at Turbo Studio, developing projects that blend live action, visual effects and new forms of image-making, while maintaining an independent practice.

He regularly teaches in film schools and is frequently invited to speak at conferences on the new technological challenges facing the audiovisual industry.
